Plan your fall education and attend the Advanced Clinical Course: Essential Psychiatric Skills for the Palliative Care Practitioner on November 3. This course is relevant to physicians, advanced practice professionals, and pharmacists with the aim to expand on the knowledge of primary psychiatric skills for palliative practitioners from a faculty with a variety of backgrounds, career stages, disciplines, and settings of care. AAHPM would like to congratulate The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center as it has been selected as the award winner for the Ho-Chiang Grant for the 2024-2025 year.

PCHETA Reintroduced in U.S. Senate
The Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA) has been reintroduced in the U.S. Senate as S. 2243. AAHPM helped develop this bipartisan legislation to grow the hospice and palliative care workforce, improve awareness, and expand research. AAHPM Supports Provider Training in Palliative Care Act
AAHPM has endorsed S. 2117, federal legislation that would update the National Health Service Corps program to allow participants to apply for deferral of up to one year of their service obligation period in order to receive additional training in palliative care. AAHPM Comments on CMS’ FY24 Hospice Proposed Rule
The Academy has weighed in on CMS’ proposals regarding FY 2024 hospice payment and quality reporting. In detailed comments, AAHPM addressed utilization trends, telehealth, quality measurement, health equity and more, while reiterating previous calls to ensure sustainable reimbursement and reform the Medicare hospice benefit.
