Categories of Membership
Physician Membership—$675*
Allopathic (MD) or osteopathic (DO) physicians licensed to practice medicine are eligible.
Affiliate Membership—$375*
Non-physician healthcare professionals (e.g., nurse, social worker, pharmacist, physician assistant, administrative professional) with a commitment to the vision of AAHPM are eligible.
Professionals-in-Training Membership—$225*
When joining, you must upload a letter (on the institution’s letterhead) signed by the program director verifying that you are currently in the training program, along with the expected completion date. This is required in order to have your membership approved by AAHPM.

Resident or Medical Student Membership—$0*

International Corresponding Membership—$30
Practicing physicians holding an MD, DO, or equivalent degree who are actively engaged in the field of hospice and palliative medicine and who permanently reside in a developing nation are eligible.

Emeritus Membership—Free
Members who have retired from active practice and have maintained at least 15 consecutive years of membership in good standing shall be eligible for emeritus membership by sending a written request letter to AAHPM’s membership department.

*A $50 one-time processing fee will be added upon joining.
As a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, AAHPM is not affected by the laws on dues non-deductibility. AAHPM’s expenses for lobbying activity do not meet the required threshold such that any portion of member dues would not be deductible. Of course, if you have further questions on this, we always advise that a member check with their own tax advisor.
NOTE: All credit cards payments will incur a 2.5% processing fee.
Special Rates

Senior Status—$335
For senior members with reduced income and working hours. Members need to complete an application and supply appropriate documentation confirming they are working less than full-time and are at least 65 years old. Once approved, members will receive a 50% discount on their membership dues.
Inactive Status
For members during a temporary period of hardship. Members need to complete an application. During this interim status, members relinquish their right to vote or hold office. Once approved, members will not be required to pay dues for one full year.
Premiere Status
For organizations with 20 or more members in AAHPM. Members can be physicians, affiliates, fellows, residents, or medical students. Members receive expanded benefits, services and cost savings. Contact AAHPM Member Services at [email protected] or 847.375.4712 for more information.
