AAHPM Leadership Forum
The AAHPM Leadership Forum is an innovative collection of new training opportunities developed in partnership with the American Association for Physician Leadership. Its vision is to identify and refine nonclinical but equally critical leadership skills that hospice and palliative medicine physicians increasingly need for success.
The program is designed to offer a variety of learning opportunities and environments, including face-to-face didactic instruction and web-based self-study. You can create your own customized and flexible learning pathway and select content based on your unique leadership development career goals.
Three distinct programs and types of learning experiences are available, including AAHPM Ignite, AAHPM Ascend, and AAHPM Elevate.
- Utilizing DISC Behavioral Styles to Increase Leadership and Team Effectiveness in Palliative Care and Hospice Settings
- Using StrengthsFinder Leadership Strategies to Increase the Performance of You and Your Team in Palliative Care and Hospice Settings
AAHPM Ascend is an intensive two-day program providing physicians with the tools needed to become leaders and influencers. Physicians will develop a new skillset of beliefs and behaviors to redefine their work beyond clinical expertise.
The 2016 sessions were led by American Association for Physician Leadership faculty members and supported by AAHPM leadership facilitators who guided small group work and discussions. Participants also completed a Leadership Practices Inventory® (LPI®), a 360-degree peer-assessment tool that offers a tangible evaluation and insight into leadership skills, strengths, and opportunities for development from trusted colleagues and coworkers.
AAHPM Elevate is a collection of supplemental web-based, on-demand programs offered through American Association for Physician Leadership at a special rate for AAHPM members. Physicians are able to create and customize their own flexible learning pathway.
Self-study courses include ethical challenges, quality improvement, negotiation tactics, strategic thinking and decision making, and finance in healthcare organizations.
CME credit, a certificate of completion through AAHPM, and potential credit toward one of four American Association for Physician Leadership master's degrees and the Certified Physician Executive (CPE) credential are available, depending on how much education you choose to pursue. You may select some or all of the content offered based on your unique leadership and career development goals.
