Palliative Medicine Access Fund Scholarship
AAHPM’s Palliative Medicine Access Fund provides scholarships to cover registration fees (excluding preconference workshops) and $500 toward travel-related expenses (airfare, hotel, cab fare, and meals) for the Annual Assembly or the State of the Science.
Eligibility and How to Apply
The 2019 application cycle is now closed. Applications were due a Noon ET on August 19.
Annual Assembly Scholarship
You’re eligible for the Annual Assembly scholarship if you are an AAHPM member, a US-based physician, fellow, resident, or medical student currently practicing hospice and palliative medicine.
AAHPM gives preference to applicants who:
- have not previously attended the Annual Assembly
- demonstrate a commitment to the field of hospice and palliative care
- demonstrate the need for scholarship funds to facilitate their attendance
- have been selected to present an abstract, paper or poster
- are a member of an AAHPM committee or task force, or are a community chair.
State of the Science Scholarship
You’re eligible for the State of the Science scholarship if you are an AAHPM member in good standing currently working in the field of hospice and palliative medicine.
AAHPM gives preference to applicants who:
- would likely benefit from attending the State of the Science
- demonstrate a commitment to the field of research in hospice and palliative care
- are working to identify a research mentor
- have published research or are seeking to publish research
- are seeking out or have applied to research training programs
- have demonstrated the need for scholarship funds to facilitate their attendance
- are considering submitting an abstract, paper or poster for the State of the Science
- currently a member of an AAHPM committee or task force or are a community chair.

AAHPM qualifies for tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a not-for-profit corporation. Donors are encouraged to consult their tax advisors for information about the deductibility of these donations.
