AAHPM 2017 Ascend Program Focuses on Leading and Sustaining a Resilient Team
AAHPM is committed to training and developing prepared leaders with a goal of strengthening not only their organizations but also the subspecialty of hospice and palliative medicine. The AAHPM Leadership Forum is an innovative collection of training opportunities emphasizing both experiential and developmental aspects of the physician’s role in leadership as well as his or her professional development goals. Over the past 4 years, more than 300 individuals have participated in AAHPM Leadership Forum programming.
There are three program components and distinct offerings included as part of the AAHPM Leadership Forum: AAHPM Ignite, AAHPM Ascend, and AAHPM Elevate. The Ignite program introduces physicians to key topics in leadership in an interactive, didactic format at the Annual Assembly. The Ascend program encourages self-reflection by including a peer mentoring opportunity with small group work and discussion. Ascend faculty members are present throughout Ascend to foster relationships amongst the participants to encourage future collaboration. Elevate offers a web-based self-study to build upon the lessons learned in Ignite and Ascend.
