A Growing Number of Subspecialized Hospice Physicians
Earlier this year, nearly 150 hospice medical directors learned that they received the HMDC® credential from the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board® (HMDCB). This group joins the growing list of subspecialized hospice physicians, which now includes 650 hospice physicians from across the United States. See the map below to learn about the geographic distribution of HMDCs, and visit hmdcb.org to use the “Find an HMDC” directory to locate a certified physician in your area.
Whether you are a seasoned veteran of hospice medicine or a young professional interested in gaining more knowledge, the process of studying for the examination provides great value. Take Martin D. Weltz, DO MBA MPH FACP HMDC, from Greenbelt, MD, who passed the exam this year and said, “[The HMDCB examination] was very worthwhile, and I feel the study and preparation I embarked on made me a better practitioner as well as teacher.”
