AAHPM and HPNA invite you to lend your expertise as a reviewer for the Scientific Research and Early Career & Professionals in Training Call for Abstracts for the 2026 Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care.
Your insights are vital to shaping a high-quality, evidence-informed educational program for the annual conference. As a reviewer, you’ll play a key role in evaluating submissions that contribute to advancing the field and supporting the professional growth of your peers.

Scientific Research Reviewers
We welcome academic scientists, post-doctoral trainees, and researchers to review submissions for the Scientific Research Call for Abstracts. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the integrity of the scientific program, grow professionally, and connect with the research community.
Ideal reviewers will be able to assess abstracts based on:
- Scientific content and significance
- Methodological rigor
- Relevance and impact in hospice and palliative care
Membership in AAHPM or HPNA is no longer a prerequisite for applying to become a reviewer. To ensure a fair, rigorous, and informed review process, reviewers should meet the following:
- Familiarity with a range of research designs, data collection techniques, and analytical methods
- Ability to provide objective, unbiased evaluations
- Availability to complete assigned reviews by the designated deadline
- Complete a conflict-of-interest disclosure form to support fair and balanced educational content
- Access the online abstract review portal, with clear scoring criteria, definitions, and instructions
- For outlier scores, provide brief, constructive comments to assist the committee in final decisions. Comments may be shared confidentially with authors upon request.
- Reviewers will be notified of application outcome the end of November

Early Career Professionals in Training Reviewers
As a reviewer, you’ll assess abstracts for originality, relevance, clarity, and potential impact—playing a vital role in curating meaningful content for the Annual Assembly.

We welcome reviewers from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds, including:
- Experienced Clinicians and Educators with a strong foundation in hospice and palliative care
- Faculty and Preceptors who mentor students, residents, or fellows
- Individuals with prior experience reviewing abstracts or educational content
- Interdisciplinary Professionals with demonstrated expertise in clinical care or academic work
- Complete a conflict-of-interest disclosure form to support fair and balanced educational content
- Access the online abstract review portal, with clear scoring criteria, definitions, and instructions

How to Apply
- Log into your Annual Assembly Account
- Enter your name and credentials
- Select “Scientific Research Reviewer” or “Early Career and Professionals in Training Reviewer” from the Reviewer Application dropdown menu
- Complete the corresponding application
 If you’d like to review for both Scientific Research and Early Career and Professionals in Training, a separate application for both is required.
