AAHPM strives to improve the quality of healthcare based on evidence and research for people with serious illness and their caregivers in all settings.
Although AAHPM does not endorse or validate specific research initiatives or outcomes, we aim to provide support to researchers engaged in this vital endeavor.
Serious Illness Research Consultant Center (SIRCC)
In March 2024, AAHPM launched the Serious Illness Research Consultant Center (SIRCC) to offer complimentary expert consultation services in research methodology and grant writing for Early Career Investigators (ECIs).
Focus Group Request Policy
All requests to collect data from AAHPM members (including conducting focus groups at the Annual Assembly) must be submitted to AAHPM for review and approval.
A limited number of high-quality, bias-free projects for the membership’s participation will be granted each year. Focus group requests should be submitted at least 4 months prior to the Annual Assembly (February or March) for consideration. If approved, all logistics including meeting space, time, scheduling, etc. need to be considered.
Your request will be reviewed based on project quality, ease of burden to members, and relevance to important topics per given year.
Please reach out to Director, Quality and Research, Katherine Ast at [email protected] to learn more on how to submit a request.
Research Grant Letter of Support Policy
AAHPM will prepare a letter of support (LOS) for Academy members submitting a research grant if the following requirements are met:
- Principal Investigator (PI) is a member of AAHPM
- PI must use the agreed upon template without editing beyond the areas indicated
To request a letter of support, download the template (page 2 of the document), complete the form, and return it to Director, Quality and Research, Katherine Ast at [email protected].
The AAHPM Research Committee will evaluate the request based on AAHPM policies and priorities and you will be notified within 30 days of their decision.
Research Survey Policy
While AAHPM does not endorse or approve research projects or findings, it is our goal to support researchers in this important work. AAHPM aims to connect our members to pertinent research work.
A limited number of bias-free projects for the membership’s participation will be granted each year. Research survey requests from AAHPM members will be reviewed by the Research Committee on a quarterly basis.
Email this completed request, email solicitation sample, PDF of your survey, IRB approval paperwork and payment to [email protected].
