“Research has had a large impact on the practice of HAPC because palliative care is a relatively new medical field compared to other areas of medicine, and so it’s expansion and widespread adoption has required foundational research showing it’s effectiveness. In my day-to-day clinical practice, I regularly look to recently published research by AAHPM members to guide decision making on a variety of topics including prognostication, to new therapies for refractory symptoms, and the need and best practices for interdisciplinary palliative care. With all the recent innovation in best practices and delivery models for palliative care, I’m excited for the future of our field!”
