AAHPM, with support from the National Institute on Aging (NIA), is committed to supporting the next generation of interdisciplinary hospice and palliative care researchers.
To help reduce the financial barriers associated with conference attendance, the State of the Science Symposium Scholarship Program provides funding for eligible attendees to participate in the 2027 State of the Science Symposium, connect with fellow investigators, and engage with emerging research and methodologies in the field.
Scholarship Support Includes
Selected recipients may receive funding for:
- Registration for the Symposium
- Ground transportation
- Airefare
- Hotel accommodations
Who Should Apply?
Twelve scholarships will be awarded to support:
- Students
- Early Career Investigators
- Trainees
- Interprofessional Researchers
The program seeks to foster a diverse and inclusive research community while supporting individuals committed to advancing hospice and palliative care research.
Preference Will Be Given To Applicants Who:
- Are within five years of completing their training
- Demonstrate a commitment to research involving seriously ill populations
- Demonstrate financial need related to conference attendance
- Have been selected to present an abstract, paper, or poster
- Identify as members of an underrepresented group in research or healthcare
How to Apply
Applications for the 2027 State of the Science Symposium Scholarship will open in late fall.
Applicants will be asked to:
- Complete the Online Application: All applications must be submitted through the AAHPM online application portal.
- Submit a Short Professional Bio: Upload a biography of 100 words or fewer.
- Await Notification: Scholarship recipients will be notified in early December 2026.
