The Power of Small Moments in Palliative Care

HAPC Voices is designed to transform what participants know, feel, and do by immersing them in authentic narratives that reflect the diverse realities of hospice and palliative care.

By sharing lived experiences, the program fosters insight, strengthens resilience, and deepens how clinicians, patients, families, and caregivers connect with one another.

In the inaugural edition of HAPC Voices Extended, Dr. Rezaie shares a moving story about a young patient living with metastatic cancer whose greatest struggle wasn’t pain or treatment itself, but the loss of taste caused by chemotherapy.

The story serves as a powerful reminder that palliative care is about understanding what matters most to patients and helping them preserve quality of life in meaningful ways. Sometimes, even small interventions can restore a sense of hope and normalcy, reinforcing the profound impact compassionate, patient-centered care can have on those facing serious illness.

Interested in sharing your story? HAPC Voices Call for Presenters is now open and seeks compelling personal experiences that reflect advocacy, allyship, compassion, equity, and person-centered care across a variety of settings. Learn more and apply by September 18.
