Kimberly Mendoza, MD MPH PHD
What has been the biggest benefit to being a scholar in the program?
The level of support for residents. As an anesthesiology resident we spend most of our time in the operating room or critical care units. I feel this program has allowed me to pursue my passion for palliative care and I feel supported while working on a project with a faculty mentor. I also enjoy networking with other residents in different specialties who have a passion for palliative care medicine.

Alex Ayala, MD MPH
What is something you have accomplished already that you are proud of?
I have led efforts to increase palliative care education amongst my hospital’s emergency department. Additionally, I designed and executed a pilot for an ED-based palliative care consult service in my hospital based on existing programs’ success.
