Dr. Wood is Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Education in the Section of Palliative Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  He is Associate Program Director for the Northwestern University fellowship in Palliative Medicine and serves as Associate Director of the Education in Palliative and End-of-Life Care (EPEC) Program, an international primary palliative care educational initiative that is estimated to have reached more than 200,000 end-learners over its 20+ year history through its train-the-trainer approach.  He is also a Strategic Partner with VitalTalk, a nonprofit at the forefront of improving serious illness communication.  In 2014, Dr. Wood was named an Inspiring Hospice and Palliative Medicine Leader Under 40 by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM).  His academic work centers around communication and communication skills training. He attended medical school at University of Chicago and completed his Internal Medicine residency at University of California, San Francisco.  He subsequently completed his Palliative Medicine fellowship and Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at Northwestern University.
