Ben Thompson is a hospice and palliative care physician with a distinguished career in clinical leadership, education, and program development. Before joining Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Thompson served as the Division Chief of Hospice and Palliative Care for Prisma Health in the Midlands and the Program Director for the Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship. In 2024, his dedication to education and leadership was recognized by the Academy as an Emerging Leader in the field of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. 

A physician with a unique expertise in both addiction medicine and hospice and palliative care, Dr. Thompson has a professional interest in improving care for patients with opioid use disorder at the end of life. At Gentiva, Dr. Thompson serves as the National Medical Director for Workforce Development and Strategy, exploring innovative ways to deliver high-quality end-of-life care to patients across the country.
