Dr. VandeKieft is an inpatient palliative care consultant and clinical ethicist with the Providence South Puget Sound Palliative Care Program in Olympia, WA. He previously served as Executive Medical Director for Palliative Care and Tele-PC for the Providence St. Joseph Health System. He has many years’ experience as hospice medical director and in an outpatient palliative care clinic. He is Medical Director for the Washington Rural Palliative Care Initiative and Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Washington.
He completed Michigan State University’s masters program in Health and Humanities with a concentration in Bioethics and Harvard Medical School’s Program in Palliative Care Education and Practice. He received the 2018 Hastings Center Cunniff-Dixon Physician Award in the Senior Physician category and the 2017 Stuart J. Farber Award for Excellence in Hospice and Palliative Care from the Washington State Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
