SUMMARY:Ethics\, Telehealth and Wellness Community Joint Meeting
DESCRIPTION:You’re warmly invited to join a joint meeting of the AAHPM Ethics SIG\, Telehealth & Technology Forum\, and Wellbeing\, Wellness\, and Burnout Forum. In preparation\, we ask participants to read “Where the Walls Listen: Artificial Intelligence and Clinical Scribes” by Josh Briscoe. \n\n\n\nDuring this open discussion session\, we hope to spark a rich\, interdisciplinary conversation grounded in the article’s provocations. Here are a few examples of themes we’ll likely explore together: \n\n\n\n\nRole shift in documentation & thinking: What happens when AI takes over note-writing? Does this erode clinicians’ habits of reflection\, narrative\, and clinical reasoning as tied to the act of writing? (Briscoe raises this risk explicitly.)\n\n\n\nSurveillance & power dynamics: How does continuous capture of clinical encounters\, dashboards\, performance monitoring\, and “efficiency reminders” influence clinician behavior\, autonomy\, and trust in relationships?\n\n\n\nTime\, workload\, and commodification: Rather than giving clinicians reclaimed time\, will administrative systems push to see more patients\, truncate encounters\, or intensify “productivity”?\n\n\n\nRelational presence under duress: If clinicians know “the walls are listening\,” how might that subtly alter their communication (to patients\, about patients\, or even to AI)? What does this do to trust\, authenticity\, vulnerability?\n\n\n\nGuardrails\, design\, and future directions: What ethical\, technical\, policy\, or cultural guardrails might help guide the integration of AI scribes in a way that protects human connection\, meaning\, and clinician wellbeing?\n\n\n\n\nWe’ll invite participants to surface questions\, tensions\, and share viewpoints. We hope this will also seed future collaborative initiatives across SIGs and forums. We look forward to your voices in this conversation. \n\n\n\nAt this time\, please do not share this link on Social Media or outside AAHPM’s Connect platform. We have increased our participant capacity for the Zoom platform\, but want to be cautious that everyone can access the call. \n\n\n\nJoin Zoom Meetinghttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/85091923642Meeting ID: 850 9192 3642 \n\n\n\nMeetings on the AAHPM Connect or Zoom platforms (that were organized by AAHPM) are designed to help you connect with colleagues. The postings and dialogue help facilitate discussion and do not carry AAHPM’s endorsement or continuing education credit.
