Proposed PACSSI APM to Support Palliative Care Teams
AAHPM proposed the Patient and Caregiver Support for Serious Illness (PACSSI) physician-focused alternative payment model (APM). This new model would add new payments based on patient need and disease severity that are crucial to palliative care services. Recently, the new payment model earned backing from the AMA and a key CMS panel. Read more about the payment model.

Hearst Leadership Scholars Fund Now Open
This scholarship fund is designed to increase the number of qualified hospice and palliative medicine physicians who have access to leadership development opportunities to supplement clinical training. Through the support of the Hearst Foundations, this will fund AAHPM physician members who are interested in participating in professional development activities.
AAHPM Leaders Promote PCHETA in Briefing for Congressional Staff
On May 17, AAHPM leaders Paul Tatum and Sean Morrison participated in the Patient Quality of Life Coalition briefing for congressional staff to promote the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA), legislation that would expand HPM workforce, awareness & research.
